Task Mailer Cron Pro

Never miss a Task deadline again!

Task Mailer Cron Pro is compatible with Joomla versions 1.5, 1.6 and all versions of ProjectFork 3.0.x. With Joomla 1.7 populating the live_site variable seems to be affecting logging in to admin section. We are working hard to resolve this issue. In the meantime we have a workaround that can be viewed here.

What's new in version 1002?

We have added a few extra configurable parameters:

1. option to set a cc email address

2. option to set a bcc email address

3. option to include overdue tasks

4. option to specify how many days past the overdue date that the user will be reminded.

Task Mailer Cron Pro is a configurable ProjectFork process that delivers email task alerts to project users via a server side cronjob.

Configure the process by adding a custom email message, define the alert period, decide what task information to include and let ANGEK DESIGN's Task Mailer Cron Pro handle the rest.

Installation:

1. simply upload the provided zip file via ProjectFork's installation uploader.

Configuration:

1. once installed go to config -> Processes and Edit Tasks Due Date Cron Mailer

2. configure the process by:

  • entering the email address that will be used to send the cron emails from. If you leave the "Email From" textbox blank then the script will use the default "Email From" as defined in your Joomla Global Configuration.
  • entering the Subject for the email into the "Email Subject" field
  • entering the Message which is to serve as an introductory paragraph for the email
  • use the "Alert Period", "Alert Interval" and "Alert Condition" to set the period prior to a task deadline that the email should be sent.

    If you want to be alerted of all the tasks that are due to be completed in exactly 2 days time then enter 2 in the textbox, select 'Day' for the Alert Interval and select '=' for the Alert Condition. 

    Similarly, if you want to be alerted of all tasks that are due to be completed within the next 6 days then enter 6 in the textbox,
    select 'Day' for the Alert Interval and select '<' for the Alert Condition.
  • and finally selecting if you want the project name, milestone name, task priority, task progress and task deadline to be included in the task information.

3. Locate your Joomla configuration.php file and check to see if the $live_site variable is populated. If it is not then please populate it.

Cronjob (crontab):

Task Mailer Cron Pro requires a cronjob to be added to your hosting server. Without it Task Mailer Cron Pro will not run!

 let's assume that you want Task Mailer Cron Pro to run once a day at 12:10am. You will have to enter the following:

10 00 * * * php /path_to_your_joomla_installation/administrator/components/com_projectfork/processes/task_mailer_cron/cron_mail.php

If after configuring your cronjob you are not receiving email alerts please check with your hosting company to ensure that the owner of the cronjob has enough permissions to execute the cron_mail.php file and enough permisssions to read Joomla's configuration file (configuration.php)
